Conference on African-American Children and Families

Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m Schindler Education Center, University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, Iowa

Designed for educators, administrators, childcare providers, law enforcement, policy makers, social workers, health professionals, business leaders and anyone committed to improving the lives of children!

This conference will promote a better understanding of culture, ethnicity, race, socioeconomic status and the needs of African-American children and families. Spend the day networking, sharing and meeting new colleagues to help improve the quality of lives of children and families.

The Banneker Franklin Foundation contributed clocks for this first annual conference on African American Children and Families with hopes of bettering the lives of children and families.

The Banneker Franklin Foundation's mission is to bring awareness to the nation's alarming high school drop-out rate and offer support via partnerships with celebrities and corporations. Every celebrity is challenged to adopt his own alma mater high school by gifting graduation Banneker Franklin class jewelry; providing scholarships; and offering support vehicles to teens that are the most at risk. The "celebrity" in turn challenges a peer and thus a snowball effect of support, incentive and encouragement is bestowed upon the nation's youth.
