Panther Pick Up—a project to help the environment while benefiting the community—was held while students were moving out of residence halls and apartments in late April and early May, 2009.

Rather than pitching stuff, students contributed more than six tons of usable items—including running shoes, mattresses and books—to charitable organizations. Of that, nearly 2.5 tons of books were collected by University Book and Supply.

In addition, 1,600 pounds of metal were recycled during the events.

Plans are underway for the 2010 Panther Pick Up. See below for more details.
