SARAH WEEKS was born and raised in Ann Arbor, Mich. She has been writing children's picture books and novels for the past 25 years. She is a graduate of Hampshire College and New York University and is currently an adjunct faculty member in the prestigious Writing Program at the New School University in New York City, where she teaches the second year Master's of Fine Arts workshop on Writing For Children.
Ms. Weeks is well known for her Early Readers, Picture Books, Middlegrade Chapter Books and Novels for Middle-grade and Young Adult readers. Her most recent novel, As Simple As It Seems (HarperCollins, 2010), is the touching story of an 11-year- old girl, Verbena who mistakes the early rumblings of adolescence for something much darker. Her humorous romp for young middle-grade readers, Oggie Cooder, has now been joined by a sequel, Oggie Cooder, Party Animal. Her Young Adult novel, So B. It, which continues to be a best seller, was awarded the 2004 Parents Choice Gold medal in addition to numerous state book awards including the Rebecca Caudill Award and the William Allen White Award. Her 30 picture books include such favorites as Mrs. McNosh Hangs Up her Wash and Crocodile Smile as well as two new contributions, Sophie Peterman Tells the Truth, and Woof, A Love Story. Ms. Weeks' titles have sold well over a million copies including numerous foreign editions.
In 2005, Sarah helped found A.R.T. (Authors Readers Theatre), a group of authors, which includes Avi, Pam Munoz, Ryan, Richard Peck, Katherine Paterson, Brian Selznick, Bruce Coville and herself. A.R.T. is now in its fifth season, performing dramatic staged readings at numerous venues throughout the country.
