Mary Rosser is the Director of the University Training Centre for Reading Recovery and Coordinator of Literacy Professional Development Programs at the University of Maine. She was formerly the State Trainer for Reading Recovery and lecturer in the School of Cultural and Language Studies at the Queensland University of Technology in Australia. Mary's areas of expertise are language education, curriculum development and early literacy intervention. She has worked at primary, secondary and tertiary levels of education and has extensive international experience as a literacy consultant and popular conference presenter. Mary's current research interests focus on analysis of pedagogy with particular attention to teacher/student interactions which promote powerful learning; and comprehensive literacy intervention models for education contexts with high populations of ELL learners.

Linda Dorn

Teaching for Tomorrow: Creating Strategic Learners Through Callenging Work

Linda Dorn is a Professor of Reading Education and Director of the Center for Literacy at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She is the primary developer of the Partnerships in Comprehensive Literacy (PCL) model and the Comprehensive Intervention Model (CIM). She has presented keynote addresses and featured sessions at international, national and state conferences. She has published widely, including journal articles, chapters in four books, children's materials, nine video publications and five books. Her most recent book, co-authored with Carla Soffos, is Interventions that Work: A Comprehensive Intervention Model for Preventing Reading Failure (Allyn & Bacon).

Floretta Thornton-Reid

Extending the Language of Bi-dialectical and Bilingual Students through Writing

With a background that includes social services, parent involvement and adult literacy, Floretta Thornton-Reid officially became an early childhood educator over 17 years ago. Her primary research interest is the education of diverse student learners, particularly the early literacy achievement of young males of African descent. She is an Assistant Professor and Executive Director for the Reading RecoveryŽ, Literacy Lessons, FirstChance, Comprehensive Intervention Model and Partnerships in Comprehensive Literacy programs at Georgia State University, Atlanta, Ga. Active in her community, Dr. Reid is a board member of the Building Towards Wellness Community Coalition, Inc., and member of the Greater Columbus Negro Business and Professional Women's Club. She has also served as a member of the Columbus Consolidated Government Community Development Advisory Council and was awarded a commendation for her service by City Council. Dr. Reid is a member of the International Reading Association, Phi Kappa Phi and Kappa Delta Pi honor societies. Currently she serves as past-president for the Reading Recovery North America Trainers Group. Previously, she served as Trainer Representative to the Reading Recovery Council of North America Board, president and secretary for the Reading Recovery North America Trainers Group.
