Keynoter
Kevin Nordmeyer
Mr. Nordmeyer received both his Bachelor of Arts degree in architecture and Master’s in architecture from Iowa State University. Since receiving his architectural license in 1993, Mr. Nordmeyer has been specializing in energy efficient and sustainable building design in Iowa. Prior to becoming director of the Iowa Energy Center in March of 2009, his work included the design of the Center for Energy and Environmental Education at UNI, Iowa’s first modern sustainable building completed in 1994 and the Iowa Association of Municipal Utilities (IAMU) Office and Training Facility located in Ankeny. Mr. Nordmeyer has received numerous state, regional and national design awards for his work including the national AIA’s Top Ten Green Buildings Award in 2002 for the IAMU facility, the Perspectives and Flashback Awards from Eco-Structure Magazine in November 2008 and the Design Achievement Award from the College of Design and the ISU Alumni Association in 2008. He was the principal designer for the Morrill Hall Renovation, ISU’s first LEED Silver project and the College of Design King Pavilion, the first LEED Platinum collegiate facility in Iowa. Mr. Nordmeyer is the founding chair of the United States Green Building Council - Iowa Chapter, is a past president of the American Institute of Architects Iowa Chapter and currently serves on various other boards and commissions in Iowa focused on energy and environmental issues. Keynote Presentation Kevin Nordmeyer, Keynoter Kevin will be discussing the Mission of the Iowa Energy Center which is to conduct and sponsor research, education, and demonstration projects in Iowa to maximize energy efficiency and to optimize renewable energy systems. He will discuss our vision for energy education across multiple audiences throughout the state of Iowa in an effort to fulfill our mission.
