**For your combo audition, be prepared to improvise on a blues or another tune of your choice. If you choose something other than blues, please have a play-along CD with you to serve as accompaniment. Drummers will demonstrate a variety of styles and tempos. Pianists, guitarists, and bassists will also demonstrate accompaniment techniques (walking, comping). Back line equipment (amplifiers, drum set) will be provided for the audition only.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • DRUMMERS WILL NEED TO BRING A DRUM SET TO CAMP.
  • GUITARISTS AND BASSISTS WILL NEED TO BRING AN AMPLIFIER AND ALL REQUIRED CORDS TO CAM
  • IF YOU PLAY A BARI SAX, PLEASE BRING A BARI WITH YOU. IF YOU SHOW UP WITH AN ALTO OR TENOR WE WILL HAVE A BALANCE ISSUE.

*Students may choose to take a half-hour private lesson with a member of the faculty for a nominal fee (negotiated with each faculty member). These lessons will take place during the 6:00-8:00 PM time slot or at another time which is mutually agreeable, such as during part of one of the jam sessions.

***Students may choose the alternate activity instead of the jam session. This activity may include viewing films, playing board games, or similar. All activities will be supervised by camp staff.
