To enroll for one hour of graduate credit, complete the online enrollment form (the second option) at: http://www.uni.edu/continuinged/enroll/ Or, contact University of Northern Iowa Continuing Education at 1-800-648-3864 or 319-273-2121 and request that an enrollment form be mailed to you. Submit your credit enrollment form by June 9.

280:133g -- Mentoring: A Key to Iowa’s Future (1 credit graduate credit hour) Instructor: Beverly Riess, University of Northern Iowa Tuition: $105.00 (payable by University billing, MasterCard, VISA or Discover) Course will be offered on a credit/no credit basis.

Graduate Credit Requirements for 1-hour credit:

1. Attend the Mentoring and Induction Institute June 17-18.

2. Write a reflection on the Wednesday night Keynote. List and discuss at least four of Dr. Johnson’s thoughts on how best to recruit, support and retain a strong teaching force in the next decade. Do you agree with her concerns and her solutions? Do you see this as a concern in the school district that you teach/work in? Do you believe this is a regional or national concern with educators? Did you sense that after 8 years that there had been a difference made in our schools because of the research? Please explain.

3. Write an overview of Dr. Marcia Tate’s workshop. Select four different strategies that she speaks about and explain the strategy and how you would find it beneficial to use. . List three ways that Dr. Tate walks the talk and keeps her audience connected during the workshop.

4. Write a summary of how you have benefited from this conference and what changes you will make because of what you have learned. If you have any disappointments, celebrations or suggestions in regard to the Institute please share them. Would you please take time this summer or when you go back to school to share some of the ideas that you took away from this conference with another educator?
