Utility Locate Requests

All locate requests are required to be requested through the Iowa One Call system.

• Departments organizing events that involve any penetrations into the ground for tents, signs, or any other type of excavation are required to contact Iowa One Call at 1-800-292-8989 or 811 to request utility locates. Requests must be made 48 hours prior to the time of the needed services. More information can be found on the Iowa One Call website at http://www.iowaonecall.com/
• Departments organizing events will need to mark the area that needs to be
  located using WHITE paint or flags, both of which are available from Physical
  Plant.

There are many facility operators that currently own and operate underground utilities on UNI’s campus. The Iowa One Call process was developed as a part of Chapter 480 of the Iowa Code. This is a statewide notification center for persons requesting locate services, and it is state law that locates be done prior to any excavations. To assist users in this process, each building on campus has its own address, which can be found on the Building Address PDF.
