Energy Management

Energy Management operates and maintains the campus building automation system.  This computerized Direct Digital Control system is used to monitor and control building temperatures and ventilation for over 3.8 million square feet.  To optimized energy use, buildings are scheduled in accordance with occupancy hours furnished by the Registrar's office.

Monthly, Energy Management collects and analyzes energy use from building energy meters.  This information is used to bill auxiliary customers such as Department of Residence, UNI Dome, Wellness Recreation Center, Maucker Union, Performing Arts Center, and Student Health Center for the energy they use.

In addition to energy issues, alarm monitoring and reporting is also handled using the automation system.  Fire and burglar alarms are sent to Public Safety dispatch terminal.
