Operations & Maintenance

The Operation and Maintenance unit operates and maintains academic buildings, selected auxiliary department buildings, utility distribution systems, swimming pools and performs related services.  A wide variety of skills in air conditioning, carpentry, electrical and electronics, glazing, heating, locksmith, masonry, metal working, painting, plumbing, roofing, and ventilation are available for departmental facilities and projects.

Operations and Maintenance is responsible for receiving and distributing all work requests. Phone request (calls to 273-4400) and web site requests are filtered through this workgroup and processed to the appropriate group within Facilities Services for response.

The main function of this center is to:

• handle projects less than $25,000
• coordinate requests
• maintain the preventive maintenance system
• maintain a master schedule for work on campus
• estimate work to be performed by Facilities Services shops
• and most importantly, communicate with campus users on the status of their service request
