Participation in the life insurance program is automatic for employees with a permanent appointment of one-half time or more for a minimum of nine months. You become eligible for life insurance on the date you begin active work with the University. UNI pays the entire cost for this program. Life coverage is two (2) times the budgeted salary to a maximum of $250,000 for staff members under 65 years of age.
You should name a beneficiary at the time you enroll for insurance as benefits will be paid to your beneficiary upon your death. If your beneficiary does not survive you, benefits will be paid to your estate, spouse, child(ren), parent(s), or other persons in the Group Policy.
