    Changes include:
    • Preventive Services will be covered with no member cost share.

    • Expanded Women’s Preventive Services covered with no member cost share per ACA guidelines.

  • Long Term Disability Plan Updates
Current Long Term Disability (LTD) enrollment and coverage provisions have been updated to stay current with national trends. Effective July 1, 2013 benefit eligible employees will be automatically enrolled in LTD benefits on their hire date. LTD coverage will no longer phase in over the first five years of service. LTD benefits provide salary replacement if an employee is totally disabled. If approved for benefits, coverage will be 66 2/3% of compensation with a maximum monthly benefit of $6,666. For full plan provisions, please visit our Long Term Disability web page.

  • This year only we will have a second open enrollment period from October to November 2013 for health and dental plans.

You can review your current benefit elections online through the e-Business suite. First login to the e-Business suite, then click once on the UNI Employee Self Service heading, and finally click once on the View Benefits link.

We encourage you to review your benefit elections during this open enrollment period to make sure you have the right coverage to meet your current needs. This includes looking at both the cost of the monthly health and/or dental premiums and your out of pocket costs for co-payments and coinsurance. The right insurance plan for your is not necessarily the plan with the cheapest premiums or the most benefits. The right insurance plan covers the services you want and need at an out-of-pocket cost that is comfortable for you.

Voluntary Term Life Insurance and AD&D
Open Enrollment Resources

All non-temporary employees eligible for life insurance at UNI can make changes to or enroll in Voluntary Term Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage for themselves and/or their family members. This voluntary coverage is in addition to the University provided life insurance, and employees pay the full cost of the premium with after-tax dollars through monthly payroll deduction.

Special Open Enrollment Period - No Health Questions Asked!

During this open enrollment period only, UNI employees and spouses can purchase up to $20,000 of coverage or increase their current coverage amount by $20,000 (up to a maximum of $300,000 for employee and $50,000 for spouse) with no health questions asked. If you enroll in voluntary term life coverage now and maintain the coverage, you will be eligible for $20,000 increases during future open enrollments with no health questions asked. If elected, coverage would begin on July 1, 2013.

Please Note: If you choose to purchase more than $20,000 of coverage or increase your current election by more than $20,000 during this open enrollment period, you will be required to provide proof of good health to Principal Life Insurance Company.
