(Available to Current Merit system Employees)
Merit positions open to current Merit Employees for promotion and transfer. UNI Merit Employees are encouraged to apply. Positions may be posted simultaneously to outside applicants.

Bidding Instructions
Bidding is open to
current Merit system employees. To bid on a position,
a completed bid form must be returned to Human Resource Services
by the close of business on the closing date. Signed
bid forms may be submitted via personal delivery, fax, or
scanned email attachment to the contact information listed
below.
For employees bidding on a position in their present classification,
the Contract
Transfer bid form should be used. It is recommended
the employee speak with the contact person for the open position
prior to submitting a bid form. For AFSCME-covered positions,
the most senior employee holding the same classification will
automatically be awarded the position. For Supervisory
or Confidential positions, selected candidates will be invited
to interview and the final candidate will have the opportunity
to accept or reject the position offer.
For positions outside the employee's current classification,
the
Promotion, Transfer, or Voluntary Demotion bid form should
be used. It is recommended the employee update their
Application
for Employment prior to submitting the bid form. Selected
candidates will be invited to interview and the final candidate
will have the opportunity to accept or reject the position
offer.
NOTICE:
Please be advised that a transfer between departments will
result in a pay out of any compensatory time earned (CE) you
may have accrued. In some instances, transfers of comp time
earned may be approved when job transfers are made within
the same department. It is your responsibility to discuss
comp time carry over with the Department Head of the department
posting the open position you wish to apply for.

Smoking Prohibited at the University of Northern Iowa
Effective July 1, 2008 the Iowa Smokefree Air Act prohibits smoking anywhere on the entire UNI campus, including University owned or leased vehicles and vehicles parked in University parking lots. The new law imposes penalties for noncompliance on both the smoker and the institution in the event of a violation.
