POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION TITLE: Business Incubation Manager, Regional Business Center
DEPARTMENT: Small Business Development Center
APPOINTMENT TYPE: 12 Month, Term, Pay Grade V
PRIMARY FUNCTION : Manages Regional Business Center (RBC) Business Incubator; administers Innovation Incubator; and oversees special programs and client services including Iowa Women’s Enterprise Center counseling and Cedar Valley MyEntreNet.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manages RBC Business Incubator; assists in development of the strategic vision for the RBC; determines incubator program goals and strategies to meet those goals; implements outreach and marketing efforts; recruits, evaluates and selects incubator tenants; develops and implements training programs for incubator tenants; and works with the RBC advisory board consisting of members of the business community, university faculty and minority community leadership.
2. Administers Innovation Incubator; develops and implements program to tie campus entrepreneurs to resources and mentoring assets of RBC via wireless technology and incubation services; recruits entrepreneurs to participate in incubator program; and develops and implements e-business technology programs and consultative services to rural technology incubator tenants and other RBC clients.
3. Oversees special programs and client services including Iowa Women’s Enterprise Center counseling and Cedar Valley MyEntreNet; supervises training programs conducted by RBC; evaluates programs periodically for success and effectiveness; develops new programs or adapt existing programs to meet RBC strategic plan; and conducts training programs as needed.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in business or related field plus at least five years of professional experience in entrepreneurial development, business consulting or incubation management required. The successful candidate will be a highly organized, self starter with a deep understanding of entrepreneurship development and the ability to link clients with statewide resources.
