 POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION TITLE: Project Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Mathematics

APPOINTMENT TYPE: 12 Month, Term, Pay Grade III

 PRIMARY FUNCTION : Provides program coordination of projects such as Mathematics and Technology Teachers’ Professional Development and Student Online Achievement Resources (SOAR); represents Mathematics department at project implementation functions; oversees the management of accounts receivables and payables; serves as a contact with University administrative offices; and performs purchasing functions.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Coordinates programmatic activities of current projects; coordinates face-to-face workshops, online professional development, and professional development curriculum; organizes the development of parent education online resources and professional development of teachers in effective uses of two online programs; in collaboration with others, makes decisions related to planning and task completion, personnel hiring and activities, and budget to task analysis; collaborates with project director, governmental and business partners, grants and contracts personnel, business operations personnel, workshop facilitators, curriculum developers, and vendors; represents the Mathematics department at functions related to project implementation and coordination; and occasionally hosts and provides oversight of workshops, project board meetings, and project planning meetings.

2. Coordinates and oversees the management of accounts receivables and payables; performs reconciliation MEMFIS accounts and the internal financial tracking system with University accounting systems for current projects such as DoDEA and SOAR; develops procedures for collecting, analyzing, and reporting accounting data; analyzes expenses related to budgets; assists in report prepraration and responses to inquiries about expenditures from the Office of Business Operations and the Office of Sponsored Programs; attends seminars on University systems; and coordinates with project secretary and student assistants to oversee financial functions.

3. Serves as a contact with the Office of Sponsored Programs, Office of Business Operations, Human Resources, and Information Technology Services; initiates required functions related to administrative processes; communicates and coordinates with vendors; and assists in quarterly and annual financial and programatic reporting to grants and contract organizations.

4. P urchases materials and services as specified by DoDEA and SOAR staff; obtains quotes for major equipment or services as required by University policy; coordinates deliveries and maintains records relative to purchased materials; and collaborates with University purchasing, printing, shipping, and warehouse functions.

 GENERAL INFORMATION: Bachelor’s degree plus at least two years of combined experience in business/administrative procedures and project coordination required. Master’s degree and experience coordinating federally-directed funding projects preferred.
