The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) provides up to 12 weeks* of job-protected leave to "eligible" employees for certain family and medical reasons. Employees are eligible if they have worked for UNI for over one year and for 1,250 hours in the previous 12 months. Health and dental coverages may be continued during this leave with the University continuing to pay its share of the premium.
