2007 Holiday Reduced Operations Hours

USE OF LEAVE

Official 2007 UNI holidays are Monday and Tuesday, December 24 and 25; and Tuesday, January 1, 2008. The normal workdays affected during this time are Wednesday – Friday, December 26, 27, 28 and Monday, December 31.

Department heads are responsible for determining appropriate staffing and whether an office will be open or closed. Department heads may grant as many requests for use of vacation, compensatory time, or leave without pay as the department’s work schedules and service requirements allow. Staff members who do not request absences will be permitted to work on regular duties or special projects as determined by supervisors. Staff should check with their supervisors to verify the need for their services.

HOLIDAY MAIL SERVICE

Mail delivery service will not be provided during reduced operations. However, the UNI Mail Center will continue to pick up and sort U.S. mail from the Cedar Falls Post Office. It will be available for pick up at the Mail Center from 10:00 a.m. to noon December 26, 27 and 28. The Mail Center will process all outgoing U.S. mail brought to the Mail Center.

The UNI Mail Center will process incoming United Parcel Service (UPS) packages December 26, 27 and 28. UPS packages may be picked up from 9:00 a.m. to noon December 27-28. The Mail Center reserves the right to deliver UPS packages to departments unsigned for if dock space becomes a concern.

SERVICES PROVIDED DURING HOLIDAY PERIOD

Public Safety will continue with normal operations.

KUNI/KHKE Radio will continue with normal operations.

The UNI Foundation (205 Commons) will be open from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. December 26-28 and 8:00 a.m. to noon on December 31. Foundation Accounting (House 15) will be open from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. December 26 - 28 and 31.

The Wellness Recreation Center will be open (family time) from 6:00 a.m.– 6:30 p.m. December 17 – 21, 27 - 28, 2007; January 2 – 4 and 7 – 11, 2008. Check www.uni.edu/wellrec for hours of specific activity areas.

Facilities Services will continue with normal operations.  Campus building temperatures/ventilation will be at normal levels during the normal workdays, Monday, December 17, 2007 through Friday, January 4, 2008, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Reduced temperature/ventilation may take place during the weekends and holidays during this period.  Department personnel are requested to turn off lights, computers and other equipment not required during the holiday season.  Physical Plant personnel will be responsible for adjusting space temperature set points.  If departments plan to continue normal operations or have special needs or events planned, they are requested to advise the Physical Plant prior to the Thanksgiving break.

SERVICES NOT PROVIDED DURING HOLIDAY PERIOD

Maucker Union will close to the public at the end of business on Tuesday, December 18, and will reopen on Wednesday, January 2.

The Library will be closed December 22 through January 1.

University Events Coordination will be closed December 24 through January 1.

The Wellness Recreation Center will be closed December 15 - 16, 22 – 26, December 29 – January 1, 5 - 6, and 12. It will reopen at 5:00 p.m. on January 13.
