The University maintains a central lost-and-found service in the Public Safety Office for the convenience of all members of the community. The Public Safety Office is located in Gilchrist Hall.
Items found in the UNI Library, the Union and the gymnasiums or stadiums should be turned in promptly to the main office of those buildings. Departmental offices also have short-term lost-and-found services, and all residence halls hold at the secretary's desk all articles found on those premises.
Articles not claimed within a reasonable length of time (a minimum of one to two weeks) are sent to the Public Safety Office where they are kept for claim for thirty days. The various offices should notify Public Safety, 273-2712 of articles being held, especially those articles of considerable value.
