The University
of Northern Iowa believes strongly in allowing the community members
to make informed decisions about their personal safety. One element
is providing the statistical information about crime. Crime statistics
take a variety of forms to tell the story of how crime occurs in
a community. UNI has placed statistics based on the Federal Campus
Crime Report as the basis of our statistics available to the public.
The federally mandated Campus Crime Report allows students to roughly
compare between institutions.
Annually,
the campus crime statistics and policies are distributed in the
"College Life: Issues and Answers" made available to all potential
students, faculty and staff by the Office of Associate Vice President
for Educational and Student Services, 200 Gilchrist Hall, University
of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, Iowa 50614-0010.
Uniform Crime Report
The Uniform
Crime Report is a universal reporting and classification system
administered by the US Department of Justice. UCR uses a common
classification system to record incidents.
